I Love this quote. I’ve lived in shame. Once upon a time, I allowed regret to move in like a terrible roommate who steals everything from you. I’ve allowed my mistakes to hamstring me from moving forward in the life Jesus had for me. But Jesus never left me. He never abandoned me…even when I was living so incredibly far from Him. I had to learn that no subsistence or substitute could ever compare to the unconditional love of MY Heavenly Father. There is no condemnation in perfect love. Conviction…yes. But no guilt because, guess what…each one of us has already been declared guilty (Romans 3:23), but through Jesus’ shed blood, I have been made holy and righteous — I have been redeemed (1 Corinthians 1:30)! SO… take a play from my book: Whenever the enemy reminds me of my past…I stop that tired old trick and remind him of his future. #warriorraiser #noshame #noguilt #mypastisnotmyprison #mypastisnotmyfuture #iamawarrior #morethanacinqueror

This was the LAST phrase of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s LAST speech. Prophetic. In this speech, he paralleled his life to that of Moses’ — having been taken to the Mountain of Abarim, getting to see the Promised Land from a distance, but never getting to enter in (Numbers 27:12). Sadly, we all know that Dr. King’s words would ring tragically true. I’ve been reading 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙆𝙤𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙅𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙨 by Michael L Brown, PhD. And in his book, though writing of Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Jesus — Dr. Brown poetically said this of prophets, “Prophets are called to go against the grain, upset the apple cart, expose hypocrisy,challenge the status quo, and get deeply under our skin.” And he continued with,”…It was easier to eliminate the prophet than to admit their guilt.” This was the path for Dr. King as well. He never lived to see the fulfillment of his life’s work…but thankfully, He already knew hope because he knew THE HOPE…Jesus Christ, our Messiah. We cannot, nor should not, separate Dr.King from His spiritual heritage and view him as only a civil rights activist…no, he himself said, “Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord!” Dr. King we honor your life and legacy today.
